Lanao del Norte: Tubod bananas

A few years back during the Sagingan Festival
in Tubod there were some 30 varieties of bananas --
for dessert and for cooking. Now they say there are
about 50 varieties! The festival is held every year
in the month of October.

Reforestation

Three places in Bukidnon and one in Misamis Oriental
with a total land area of 138 hectares will be planted
with some 100,000 trees in a three-year period
beginning this month. In compliance with law,
the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines
will finance the reforestation project (for every tree
that the NGCP cuts along the paths of its power
transmission lines it has to plant 100 tree seedlings
in other locations). The project costs P7.8-million
and aims at achieving a survival rate for the tree
seedlings of at least 80%.

Bukidnon: Malitbog vulcanizing shop

Motorcycles outnumber four-wheel vehicles
in faraway Siloo, Malitbog, as evidenced by a
vulcanizing shop that uses an old motorcycle tire
to advertise its location.
